Find Apps by First Letter in Windows 8.1 Pull up the Apps list by clicking the arrow at the bottom of the screen. Or if you have a touch screen swipe from the bottom up. There you’ll see that you can sort apps by name which will put them all in alphabetical order. Windows VP Tami Reller announced onstage at Microsoft’s worldwide partner conference in Toronto this morning that manufacturers should see it the first week of August, and the public will get a chance to make those $39 upgrades by late October 2012. 1. Is it Mac or Mobile? The biggest surprise of this year’s keynote address was the reinvention of macOS and Mac both in terms of software and hardware. On the software side, Apple left no one to doubt that a total merging of mobile and desktop is probably going to happen, perhaps sooner than anyone outside of the company could have imagined. The macOS Big Sur update, as it’s known, looks a lot like the newly announced iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 software updates for iPhone and iPad, respectively....

But what should I purchase? Currently, the new iPad is all over the news, and I carry an iPhone and know the ecosystem. Without doubt, the iPad is a nice machine. Our own Josh Windisch gave it a review with high praise after using it for a week. In fact Apple assures me that it’s brilliant (in its advertising). But what about my use case? Would I be well served with an iPad when I’m interested in both consumption and creation of content?...

However, sometimes you might need to wake up Alexa and tell her to give you your flash briefing, order an item, or just find out the temperature outside. If your Echo is in line of sight, you will see the rings around the top of the bezel light up, and that lets you know she is listening. But, if the Echo is not in your sight, you won’t know if she heard you or not, and that is where enabling a wake-up sound comes in handy....

Of course, you could always know what an app can and can’t do, but you had two possible choices: Accept them all, even if either one of them sounded like a gross invasion of your privacy. Uninstall the app altogether if anything sounded too uncomfortable to you. Either way, a terrible choice....

The iOS 10.3.2 update is available for download and installation for Apple devices including the iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and later, and iPod touch 6th generation. Summary of iOS 10.3.2? There are no user-facing changes, but the 177 MB update suggests there are numerous low-level updates included. In contrast, last month’s 10.3.1 was just 28 MBs, so, users might want to perform a quick backup just in case....
